As an experiment, I got Laya, an open-source alternative to Jev, running locally with ONNX Runtime. It trails Jev on accuracy, and ONNX is much slower than native MLX on Apple Silicon. Still, it’s fully local and private, and definitely worth watching as the runtime improves.
